I am sure there are plenty of people who loathe the Madman as much as we do, but who wants the poisoned chalice right now?
This whole ongoing fiasco looks like an episode from 'I, Claudius'...during the reign of Caligula...or Nero. Can't you just visualise all those furtive meetings with conspirators, the midnight visits to the Poisoner down the back streets, the dark mutterings, the honing and hiding of blades...... All very nasty, very noxious, very now....
