Garden ambitions

Irises do well in the poor soil around the house so I have determined to create a spectacular Iris garden and, to that end, spent hours browsing through the irises on offer from a specialist grower...HUNDREDS! Really gorgeous. Some are very expensive and I have had to resist, but next spring I should have a really splendid display.
Spent ages weeding yesterday , much to the delight of the banties, who squabbled vociferously over leatherjackets and juicy worms...the former preferred over the latter. An unearthed worm is pretty much the size of a small python to a bantie...and a leatherjacket a very large baguette! I am glad that I do not speak Bantish. If I did, I would have learned a lot of choice swear words!

Also spent a bit of time photographing my appletree-eater..... Pretty...but sooooooooo destructive!
